Annual Election & BBQ Party - A HUGE Success

Lin Retired VP of CCCPA & Chair of the 97 Meeting
July 12, 1997 marks the turning point of CCCPA's election
history: a RECORD high number of candidates: nine energetic,
young and intelligent people competing for 6 openings of Board
Members and one President position. Each candidate was allowed
to give a 3-minute "Prime Time Speech" to WOO the
voters. The crowd was so big (over 100 people attending) and
the food was so tempting, that John Lin, the RIGID Chair of
the election had to request or "command" several
times that people keep quiet while candidates were speaking.
Fortunately, a casual, but orderly process of presentation
& ballot was completed smoothly with the final startling
OPEN count of the votes. The six newly elected Board Members
are Mr. He, Ming; Mr. Hong, Ming-de; Ms. Jia, Qiu-ping; Mr.
Liu, Jin; Mr. Mou, Guang-li; Ms. Shen, Yuan. Together with
the five staying Board Members (Ms. Deng, Ming-lin; Mr. Huang,
Wei-qing; Mr. Gong, Peng; Mr. Wong, Warner; Ms. Gao, Yan-lai)
there are 11 OFFICIAl Board Members in the 1997-98 fiscal
year of CCCPA. Lastly, the new Board approved two more candidates
to serve as Elective Board Members: Ms. Si, Qing and Mr. Liu-Yi.
WOW, the Board Members are doubled!
NOW, in
the HURAHs of members and their friends or VOTERS, Ms. Deng,
Ming-lin, a former Board Member was elected the new CCCPA
President. In her concise and remarkable election campaign
speech, Ms. Deng emphasized that high quality professional
events and team work are the corner stone of CCCPA's success.
To organize activities according to members' needs and to
increase CCCPA's visibility in the Chicago and Midwest area
will be the working targets in the year ahead. SO, keep your
eyes OPEN on the leadership of this new Board.
Dr. Wang
Zheng-yu, CCCPA President of 96-97, delivered a great annual
report of the past year: Membership doubled, Press Coverage
Rocketing, etc... This was followed by the CCCPA Financial
Report delivered by Xu Yanchun. According to the report, income
$$ Trippled !
Well,
fantastic BBQ Grill and authentic food, burning charcoals,
enticing Sausages, Chicken Wings, Pork Ribs & Hot dogs...
Watermelons, Iced Cokes, Chips, OH, Chinese Noodles/Veggies/Fried
Rice, etc. In one word, eating from the beginning to the finale!!
Another
glorious addition was three reporters from the Chinese news
media and four officers from PRC Consulate, who came to deliver
their congratulations. More the "Better" is many
times, CCCPA's philosophy.
Last,
our BELOVED and TOUGH Board Members and officers, Dr. Wang,
Zheng-yu, President, John Lin, Vice President and Secretary
General Ms. Xu, Yan-chun, retired from the Board after a successful
completion of their terms. The three of them gave best wishes
and full support to the new Board. Without "tears",
but with much love of the CCCPA, they (including me) quietly
moved to the next phase of their lives...while closely watching
the future steps of the CCCPA!!!
