About
CCCPA Election, 1999
by Zhengyu Wang, Chairman, Board of Directors, CCCPA
CCCPA
just had a great year. The successful event held in
June is one of several examples of what we can achieve
if we work together to strive for the better future
of CCCPA. Now, it is time to evaluate what we did well
and what could be done differently, and to plan for
next year's strategy. This is election all about.
Based
on CCCPA By-law, every year we elect a new President
and about half of the Board of directors. The new President
will then nominate Executive Officers, including vice-president(s),
treasure, secretary, and other Operating Officers. We
also welcome many new volunteers working for CCCPA.
The
President shall be the principal executive officer of
the corporation and shall in general supervise and control
all of the affairs of the corporation. Anyone who is
dedicated to CCCPA, has a great deal of spirit and commitment
about CCCPA, should consider participating the election
of the President.
On
the other hand, the Board shall be the final decision-maker
of the organization. Its responsibilities include:
- Monitoring
the operation of the organization based on the By-law;
- Being
responsible for the strategic development and organizational
change;
- Appointment
or removal of Council Members and Executive Officers;
- Explanation
and modification of the By-law. To qualify for a nominee
for election as a Board Director, a member must have
made significant contribution to the organization
and be sponsored by at least three other members of
the organization. Anyone who has been involved in
the CCCPA activities, has ideas about CCCPA development,
has been making significant contributions to the organization
(i.e. former executive officers, former board members,
volunteers who helped CCCPA events at least two times,
founders of CCCPA, etc.), should participate the Board
Directors' election. This year, we have 4-5 open seats
available.
Another
important part of CCCPA's operation is the CCCPA Operating
Officer Team. Officers, including Executive Officers,
are nominated by the President. The nomination of Executive
Officers will be approved by the Board, and the other
Officers will be notified to the Board. Last year, we
had many volunteers who helped the organizations in
many aspects. We encourage these volunteers to join
our Operating Officer Team this year. We also welcome
more volunteers to participate CCCPA's planning and
operation. Anyone who has been involved in the CCCPA
activities, has ideas about CCCPA
development, is willing to make contribution to the
organization, is welcome to become a CCCPA Officer.
Seats for Officers are Unlimited. An Officer may help
whenever time permits. So please apply. There is no
need for election for Officers, but we would like you
to introduce yourself.
